Orange Lake Resorts Receives Award for Exceptional Growth

Orange Lake Resorts Receives Award for Exceptional Growth

Orange Lake Resorts SMART awardLast week Orange Lake Resorts, a division of Holiday Inn Club Vacations, received a SMART award from the Orlando Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG Orlando). As one of the highest honors in the Tourism-Hospitality category, Orange Lake Resorts happily accepted the award.

As mentioned previously, in 2014 Holiday Inn Club Vacations has already added both the Cape Canaveral Beach Resort and a new resort in Williamsburg, Virginia.

CEO of Orange Lake Resorts Don Harrill shared, “Our growth as a company is an accomplishment we are incredibly proud to have achieved. Unlike other companies during the economic downturn, we continued to thrive and prosper in our commitment to providing memorable vacation experiences for our owners and guests.”

Every year, ACG Orlando identifies the industry leaders with annual sales from $10 million to $1 billion from the previous year. This year, Orange Lake was selected from 19 finalists. An independent panel of judges presented the honors. The awards were presented on May 8, 2014 during a luncheon. Over 200 Orlando executives attended the luncheon.

Orange Lake Resorts’ Chairman of the Board, Spence Wilson commented, “Having the company receive this award was especially meaningful to us, as ACG is a great organization that puts business at the forefront of everything it does. They connect business leaders to professionals who are focused on identifying opportunities for middle market companies – opportunities that create jobs and, ultimately, drive the economic engines of our communities.”

Wilson has been with the company for a long time, as he is also the son of Holiday Inn founder the late Kemmons Wilson. His father established Orange Lake Resorts in 1982 with their flagship resort in Kissimmee, Florida. Spence Wilson’s commitment to the brand re-enforces Orange Lake’s focused on a family-friendly vacation ownership program. Between Holiday Inn Club Vacations and Orange Lake Resorts, members can choose from 12 locations across the U.S.

Orange Lake Resorts Donates to Easter Seals Florida

Orange Lake Resorts Donates to Easter Seals Florida

On April 22nd, Orange Lake Resorts donated a $20,000 check to Easter Seals Florida, an adult day health care program. This generous contribution will help adults with cognitive disorders or disabilities.

Donna Chun, Orange Lake Resorts’ director of corporate social responsibility efforts, presented the check to Easter Seals. As it was also National Jelly Bean Day, Chun provided plush toys and jelly beans to attendees.

Chun said, “Plush toys bring a sense of comfort to adults with dementia and Alzheimer’s. While we know donations make critical services possible, we also wanted to do something special for the people in the program.”

This contribution from Orange Lake Resorts, a segment of Holiday Inn Club Vacations, will make an enormous difference to the Easter Seals organization. Located in Orlando, Easter Seals Florida offers a variety of service to assist families in Central Florida. Besides the adult day care program, they provide an Adult Residential Group Home, child development centers, camp challenges, and educational programs. During the adult day program, participants work together in therapeutic activities and a full-multi sensory curriculum. These activities promote independence and socialization for day program members.

VP of development for Easter Seals Florida, Michael Slaymaker shared,

“Thank you so much for the generous gift to Easter Seals Florida. It will help us provide direct services for children, adults, seniors and veterans with disabilities and special needs at Easter Seals Day Break at the Miller Center, an adult day health care center, and Camp Challenge. Our Day Break members who deal with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other disabilities truly enjoyed being part of the check presentation. The celebration of National Jelly Bean Day made it a bit sweeter as well.”
