Florida timeshare, with more timeshare resorts and more timeshare units than anywhere else in the world, continues to rank number one in timeshare vacation ownership. Despite the fact that a recently released study shows the southeastern United States and the Caribbean as the most desired locations to buy a timeshare, California timeshares take the number two spot in popularity, and Hawaii ranks third in vacation ownership in the US.

A study by timeshare vacation exchange leader, RCI, a part of Wyndham Worldwide, shows that satisfaction among owners is strong, and the outlook for the timeshare and vacation ownership industries is positive. This information is consistent with previous research by the American Resort Development Association that showed:

  • Fewer timeshare owners feel their vacation ownership is being impacted by the economy.
  • And more and more timeshare owners feel that they will be planning to keep their timeshare ownership and continue to enjoy it in the future.

Phil Brojan, senior vice president of marketing, RCI explained, “As the world’s largest vacation exchange network with more than 3.7 million members, RCI has its finger on the pulse of today’s owner and is in a unique position to share valuable insights with the rest of the industry.

“Our latest research shows that consumers are happy with the ownership experience, and the flexibility and choice they receive through vacation exchange programs play a big part in that.”

Whether you are considering timeshare ownership in Florida, California, a Hawaii timeshare, or any of the other desirable vacation locations across the US and around the world, it seems that timeshare ownership is a viable option that works well for millions of satisfied owners.

Interval International welcomes Fun Club Mauritius to its global vacation exchange network

Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), announced the affiliation of Fun Club Mauritius. The shared ownership apartments are within Plage Bleu, a gated beachfront development close to Grand Baie, a popular tourist centre on the island of Mauritius.

“This property is a tranquil alternative to larger resorts in the area, yet it’s only a short walk to some of the island’s best swimming beaches along Trou aux Biches and a short drive to shops and nightlife in Grand Baie,” said Darren Ettridge, Interval’s senior vice president of resort sales and business development for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

The open-plan units at Fun Club Mauritius include 10 apartments, two penthouses, and two villas. The apartments have a private lawn or large balcony with barbecue and outdoor seating. Furnished to a high standard, the air-conditioned units have full kitchens and laundry facilities. En suite amenities include flat screen TVs with cable service, DVD player, and iPod docking station.

The resort’s manicured grounds surround a large swimming pool with shaded loungers. Guests also enjoy housekeeping and concierge services, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Just across the road, cars or scooters are available for visitors who would like to tour the island.

Renowned for its tropical beauty and moderate climate, with year-round temperatures ranging from 22 to 30 degrees C (72 to 86 degrees F), Mauritius is a popular vacation and honeymoon destination for Europeans because no entry visa is required.

“Our goal was to create a private and tranquil home from home experience for families on vacation,” said Mahendra Ghumundee, CEO of Fun Club Mauritius. “We are proud to partner with Interval International and confident that members who visit us on exchange will have memorable stays.”

Mauritius is approximately 1,200 miles off the south eastern coast of Africa and is served by major airlines, including daily flights from Johannesburg. The resort is a 50-minute drive from the International Airport Plaisance SS Ramgoolan.
